Wrapped Up in Christmas Joy - Janice Lynn

Heartwarming Christmas Romance is Perfect for Winter Nights

The charming little town of Pine Hill, Kentucky, sets the perfect stage for Wrapped Up in Christmas Joy, the latest sweet romance from Hallmark Publishing author Janice Lynn.

Wrapped Up in Christmas Joy introduces readers to quilt shop owner Sophie Davis and former Marine Cole Aaron, whose lives intersect at Pine Hill's Christmas festivities.

The story begins when Sophie finds Cole’s journal among a box of books that had been donated to her church. She can’t help but peruse the personal entries, finding herself drawn to the stranger on the pages. As the daughter of a veteran and a seamstress who sews Quilts of Valor, she feels a deep connection to the former soldier who wrote the emotional entries, and she longs to heal his heart.

As a former Marine, Cole battled to find peace after returning to civilian life, and his journal was the conduit toward a truce with his past. Always needing to protect others, Cole now fights fires and is embracing his new life in Pine Hill. When Sophie shows up at the fire hall with his journal, he fears digging up the demons from his past and tells her to trash it.

Their paths continue to intertwine, with both Sophie and Cole volunteering for their community. But it’s hard for Cole to let down his guard, and he doesn’t need anyone’s pity. After all he’s been through in the past, can he find faith in a more hopeful future — one touched by joy?

Wrapped Up in Christmas Joy is the perfect small-town Christmas romance to warm readers’ hearts during the holiday season. It is the sequel to Janice’s first story, Wrapped Up in Christmas, and can also stand alone.

I love a heartwarming holiday novel -- and Janice Lynn did not disappoint! First and foremost, I love Sophie's dedication to creating quilts for Quilts of Valor. Such a wonderful cause for those who deserve our utmost appreciation!

I fell right into this story because it reminds me of where I live (Lynchburg, Tennessee). It has that small-town, feel-good emotion going on. Sophie Davis is everything that Christmas should represent -- kindness, caring, giving, and love. She has found and read a journal that belongs to a veteran - Cole Aaron. It's words of a broken man who has seen some of the worst the world has to offer.

Sophie is determined to help Cole heal and prove to him that she doesn't think ill of him; but Cole is set on keeping her at a distance. Her good-hearted nature pulls him in long before he's ready to admit to himself. I love how they both feel the need to help others and give back to their community.

This love story is more realistic in the fact that it includes struggles that are more than surface scars -- they are down deep on the soul. But it doesn't make for a dark read. In fact, it makes the romance all that much more sweet!

I read the entire book in one day and often found myself smiling at Sophie's quirks and when the guys would give Cole a hard time about her and when he had to dress as Santa. Such a wonderful read that I'm going to get the first book and give them a permanent place on my bookshelf!
