Second chance romances are redeemed! I'm usually not a fan because we don't get a good sense of history, they get back together too easy, and it falls flat. But this book completely blew me away and made me believe that some second chances really are deserved!
The banter heats up the tension and chemistry between Jake and Harper while also pulling at your heartstrings with Sydney's budding love for Harper as well. Sydney steals the show and will quickly become your favorite character. She's a typical little girl who wants the fairytale life - the ones that include a mom.
Jake's grumpiness is endearing and Harper's positivity is fun. I love how she gives as much as she's dealt and never falters in being true to who she is. She worked hard to get over Jake (even though ultimately, she didn't) but the life she's built for herself gives her the steady base that Jake and Syd greatly need in their lives.
The heat between Jake and Harper is perfectly balanced with swoony moments that give you all the feels, followed by a few laughs. When things get tough, Harper shows us how amazing of a woman she truly is in regard to Morgan (Jake's ex and Syd's mom). My heart nearly exploded!
