My Thoughts:
Happy and excited that I took a chance on this book! I was surprised to learn that this was a debut novel (and even more so to learn the second book is coming July 5th!). I'm a big fan of character growth being one of the strong points and this title hits every landmark with ease and a perfectly paced storyline.
Learning more about Beijing and China were a great addition and I felt immersed into the scenery. Even though I've never been, the descriptions wrap you up with all your senses. I found myself often admitting that I could relate to Nicki with her need for organization and control. But I loved her transition and picked up a few lessons that I could personally use!
The overall message is encouraging and inspirational, without being overwhelming or pushy. Looking forward to the second book!
I received a complimentary copy for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own!
