Beyond the Team | Kaylee Ryan

Griffin

All it takes is four days to change my carefully planned-out life. Four days to fall for Peyton Monroe. Four days to convince her to give me… us a chance.

Before her, baseball was the center of my world. Being the best. Getting a full-ride scholarship. Getting drafted. Going pro. But from the moment my frisbee lands at her feet on the beach, I can’t stop thinking about her.

She’s beautiful, funny, smart… and lives thirteen hours away. Long-distance love is a complication I should avoid, but staying away from Peyton is not an option. This goes beyond the team and my love of the game.

Peyton

I’m looking to get away, not searching for love. But it all but lands at my feet on spring break anyway. A beach full of hot guys, and of course I find myself falling for a handsome baseball player.

Griffin Anthony’s charming smile draws me in. We fall hard and fast, but when it’s time to say goodbye, he tries to convince me that we can make this work long distance.

Now I’m torn between following tradition and playing it safe or throwing out the rule book and following my heart across the miles. He wants me to trust our connection. Can I risk my heart?

My Thoughts:

As a devoted baseball fan, I love a good romance that includes the game. From book one of this series, I knew I would be a fan til the end. Easton Monroe set the stage for his three daughters to never accept anything less than the best. And trust me, the bar is set HIGH! But each woman meets a man she has more than a physical connection with. It's a love that makes this game called life worth every moment to that seventh inning stretch.

Peyton has had some amazing role models to lean on when it comes to matters of the heart. I'm a firm believer like her - when you know, you know! Griffin and Peyton both are willing to do whatever it takes to make their relationship work, even if that means deviating from their initial life plan. When it's meant to me, it always finds a way.

I really enjoyed how easy it was for Peyton and Griffin to love one another. If you've read the previous books, you know Peyton has great examples through her parents and older sisters. With the dual POV from Griffin, we get to see that his parents are wonderful role models for him, too. Kaylee Ryan has done a phenomenal job of creating characters with whom you want as your own family when you finish reading.

As the youngest Monroe, I thought Kaylee handled her story with a delicate, yet passionate, hand of love, patience, and emotion that fulfilled what a younger woman and man would experience. While I'm sad that this is the book of the series, I am fully-satisfied in the entire series. It was wrapped up with an out of the park grand slam!

I received a complimentary ARC for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.
