Just Friends at the Doggy Spa | Elsie Woods

I’m falling for my best buddy. Don’t mind me if I stuff my face with all the sample wedding cake.

Not my wedding cake, just to be clear.

My friend is getting married, and yours truly is the maid of honor. Note the ‘maid’ part.

And Joey – hunky, funny, suave Joseph Buckley - is the best man.

He’s also my “buddy”, or so he calls me. Though he'll flirt with me for sport like the Armageddon is coming.

In my day job, I’m the cool, collected one responsible for settling the puppies down. But Joey has turned me into a giggling mess. To him, we're just a couple of buddies kidding around.

Until things get a little too close between us. Did that just happen? Did he…? Did I…?

If I don’t tell him how I really feel before our friends' wedding, I just might lose the best chance I’ve got for forever love.

But is Joey like those crazy pups that never settle down?

Just Friends at the Doggy Spa is full of wholesome heartwarming giggles and a rescue dog who does the rescuing himself!

My Thoughts:

I absolutely adore finding authors who make me laugh and feel good after reading their books. Elsie Woods is the latest new author to do that! This is a first of her books for me, but I instantly fell in love, eagerly wanting to read more in the series.

Rita and Joey are friends, with underlying feelings for one another, who end up planning their friend's/brother's wedding together. Nothing is planned other than the fact that they want to get married. What could go wrong with a limited timeline? Well, everything!

I found myself laughing out-loud (earning me looks from those around me) at quite a few moments. The romance wasn't overly lovey-dovey, but it was paired well with the comedy, earning a big thumbs up from me. There were a few serious points (i.e. Rita's issues with her mother), but the author did well at unfolding it at precisely the right moments.

If you're a dog-lover, you will love that added aspect to the book. You can tell the author loves dogs by her realistic features of each breed. All of their owners are excellent secondary characters that each leave a loveable mark on the story.

I received a complimentary copy for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own!

About the Author

Elsie here! Don’t mind this selfie taken in a bush by my garage, it was a beautiful day and the rest of the house was under construction.

Ah, the joys of living in the South of France!

But seriously.

I’m Elsie Woods, writer of happily ever after with a big dose of furry friends.

As the proud servant to a golden retriever named Missy, I’ve always adored stories where the sidekick was a four-legged bundle of cuteness – and that’s why they always figure large in my stories.

Love, laughs, and furry friends.

Even the thought makes me smile!

(And also, isn’t Missy the cutest? I might be biased 😍)
