I MISS YOU MOST
By Cassie Hoyt
TIMELY NEW PICTURE BOOK SHOWS CHILDREN THAT LOVE KNOWS NO DISTANCE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
With social distancing still very much a part of our current society, the upcoming holiday season will look starkly different from the ones of our past, and children will need extra joy and attention this year more than ever. When author Cassie Hoyt (author of children’s book, Hatch!) noticed her three-year old son struggling to understand why he couldn’t see his grandparents during the pandemic, she decided to write her second children’s book, I Miss You Most (Tellwell Talent; October 14, 2020), as an entertaining way for children to lift their spirits by stirring up family memories and sparking their imagination to dream up new adventures on the horizon.
I Miss You Most features catchy rhymes and vibrant, colorful illustrations – all the while the perfect inspirational antidote for children (ages 4-8) not only struggling with the emotions and confusion of not seeing loved ones during COVID-19 lockdowns, but also those struggling with other issues such as military deployment, divorce, grief, separation anxiety, moving, displacement, bereavement, and more.
Hoyt hopes that I Miss You Most will “help children through the heartache of distance by showing them how to hold their loved ones near” and she firmly believes that “imagination is a great way to cope.” I Miss You Most will allow children to explore the seas as a pirate or twirl like ballerinas, as they use their imagination to bridge even the greatest distance.

Connecting With Loved Ones We Miss During The Global Pandemic
Q&A with Cassie Hoyt Author of I MISS YOU MOST
Question: With this being your second children’s book, what inspired you to write I MISS YOU MOST?
Cassie: My three-year-old was having a hard time understanding why he couldn’t see his grandparents during the onset of COVID. I wrote I Miss You Most as a fun way to encourage him to remember fun times or to make up new things he would do with his grandparents, family, and friends the next time he saw them.
Q: Why do you feel like children need this message now more than ever before?
Cassie: The message that love knows no distance is important because there are many scenarios that keep children from their loved ones. Currently, social distancing during the COVID pandemic has become a new source of separation.
Q: Can you tell us what your main goal and objective is as a children’s book author?
Cassie: I’ve always loved reading, so as a children’s author my goal is to provide children with creative entertainment that teaches and instills a love of reading from a young age.
Q: Can you share any details with us on what’s next in terms of future books?
Cassie: I have two future books in the works. One revolves around persistence. The other is a silly spin on road trips. More details to come soon!
